Our Vision & Mission
At EPRC, our vision is clear: “Getting Rice Right as a Business” by promoting sustainable agriculture and achieving food security. Our goal is to make our staple food accessible and affordable, in line with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the African Union Agenda. We are committed to setting a new standard in rice production by producing healthy, nutritious, and high-quality rice that not only benefits consumers but also uplifts small-scale farmers.
We, as an organization, strive to reshape the perception of agriculture among the younger generations. We aim to inspire them to see farming not as a mere subsistential work, but as a field filled with innovation, ripe for entrepreneurship, and abundant in profitability. Our ethos, encapsulated by our tagline “Getting Rice Right as a Business” , seeks to instill a transformative mindset, viewing agriculture as a potent business venture.
We also have plans to expand our certified seed production site to 1,000 acres (or 405 hectares), using a seed multiplication process. This expansion will assist the Government and Ministry of Agriculture in boosting certified rice seed production in Sierra Leone. As it stands, Sierra Leone spends about $200 million each year on rice imports. We aim to reduce this dependency by promoting local consumption of what we produce, thereby achieving food sufficiency through the use of mechanization.
To achieve this, we have laid out a strategic roadmap that hinges on the integration of advanced technologies and innovative farming techniques into our operations. We are investing in research and development, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in rice cultivation to unlock new levels of yield and efficiency. Our plan includes collaborating with local farmers and agricultural institutions, fostering a knowledge-sharing culture that empowers all stakeholders.
